"...to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." (Ephesians 4:12)
Our English word “ministry” comes from the New Testament Greek word diakonía, meaning “service.” Parishioners at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church are involved in a substantial number of ministries — that is, there are many ways that they are of service to one another and to the parish at large. Our parish ministries reflect the diversity of peoples that comprise our faith community, and they are a source of gifts that the Lord gives to His people for the building up of His Church, both universally and locally.

“The very differences which the Lord has willed to put between the members of his body serve its unity and mission. For ‘in the Church there is diversity of ministry but unity of mission. To the apostles and their successors Christ has entrusted the office of teaching, sanctifying and governing in his name and by his power. But the laity are made to share in the priestly, prophetical, and kingly office of Christ; they have therefore, in the Church and in the world, their own assignment in the mission of the whole People of God.’” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #873)
